Have You Updated Your CrunchBase Profile Lately?
Recently, I’ve been using CrunchBase as my go-to destination when I want to get an at-a-glance overview of a company. Instead of visiting the company’s website directly and navigating through to their “About Us” section interpreting their marketing jargon, CrunchBase is a great place to get the high level view. Traffic Analytics, Key People, News Updates, and Competitors all one one convenient page.
I assumed the profiles where maintained and updated by the TechCrunch team as they researched companies to write articles. However, I just noticed the little “edit” link next to each module. Upon a quick trip to Quora, I found that not only are these pages crowd-sourced, but the TechCrunch team encourages updates by internal employees. So today, I submitted a bunch of edits to spruce up Pronto’s company profile and bring it up to date.
When we talk about managing our online brand, we immediately think of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Wikipedia etc, and I think CrunchBase is commonly overlooked. It’s an easy update, so go make sure your company and/or personal brand is well represented! It’s yet another link to your page from a respected site AND people looking to find out more about you (prospective new hires?) are likely to end up there!
