Google Feature I’m Loving Right Now: Image File Search

Did you know that you can do a Google search on an image? And no, I’m not talking about doing a keyword search in Google Images. I’m talking about dragging and dropping an image file straight into the Google Images search bar and finding other places that image has been used. That’s right.

Skeptical? Take this real world user scenario. Recently a friend of mine was watching this Screencast from DestroyAllSoftware. At minute 1:12, he saw the above graphic of a T-Rex playing the drums with a nuclear cloud background and naturally thought “That would make an awesome t-shirt”.

So he took a screenshot, dragged the screenshot into the image search bar, and WHAM. Apparently, he was not the only one who thought this needed to be a t-shirt. He found one available for sale on spreadshirt.com.

So there you have it- image file search on Google. Did you know about this feature? What are some other situations this feature has come in handy for?
